Why is a food certification business offering similar services in the environment space?
Regulators have begun writing in carbon reduction reporting and actions into legislation across most industries
Consumers increasingly want to be aware of the carbon footprint of the goods and services they buy and will migrate to those with the lower carbon and more sustainable ways of production
Banks and Insurance companies are mandating carbon reduction and increasingly net zero carbon into their lending and insuring practice
The conflict in Ukraine has hastened the paths of many countries toward self sustainability for energy, with a focus on sustainable and renewable energy. In particular for businesses, a reliance on higher carbon footprint supply chains has now meant much higher costs since the conflict began

What is ESOS? And why should I bother now?
“ESOS” is the acronym for the UK’s Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme and is a requirement for most UK businesses to complete. It requires a certified energy
“Lead Assessor” to survey your Scopes 1, 2 and 3 usage of energy and carbon footprint and generate methods and changes to ensure energy savings going forward.
Why do now? Although the current ESOS report is not due until December 5, 2023, it is much smarter and sustainable to do the assessment now for the following key reasons:
Lead Assessors are in short supply and in the last two quarters of 2023 it will be near impossible to secure one
Prices for doing the assessments in the latter half of next year will also be much higher (SCI currently has a brilliant early bird discount programme)
The savings proposals that are embedded in the report can begin saving you hundreds or thousands of pounds NOW when energy prices are at historic highs
Delaying such savings until next year is a most unsustainable practice, and may come to the attention of your customers, partners and lenders
