As the CEO of SCI, I’m proud that we are not just growing our business we are deepening the impact and breadth of our work.

So, as we near our third anniversary, I thought I’d share a few insights into SCI's operations and the values that drive us forward.

The leadership team we’ve built at SCI is wide, diverse and encapsulates the blend of practical experience and visionary thinking that defines why we are truly different. The diversity and breadth of our team reflects a unique blend of hands-on experience and forward-thinking.

This mix is not just a point of pride but a testament to the collaborative spirit and expertise driving our organisation, helping us attract top-tier talent across the industry.

Understated Beginnings to Bold Ambitions

As an example of how we do things, let’s take sustainability or ESG. The stakes are clearly high, and the need for innovation is pressing.

Our focus on it isn't just a response to a growing industry trend; it's a reflection of our commitment to contributing positively to the world. The future of sustainability at SCI therefore will be defined by real-world projects, which are aimed at reducing GHG emissions. One such opportunity is within rice production (more to come on this soon). It’s a prime example of how we're looking to make tangible impacts that are measurable, market-leading, and make a difference today not tomorrow.

Our approach to our work can be summed up by the old adage ‘under-promising and over-delivering’, with a relentless focus on the customer.

In basic terms this simply means being available at the end of the phone when we’re needed most. This philosophy has not only guided us through complex challenges but has also allowed us to build trust with our customers and within our own team.

The SCI Team: Our Greatest Asset

Building a world-class team at SCI is more than just filling vacancies or creating new roles. It's about finding people who share our vision for a sustainable future and possess the dynamic blend of skills needed to navigate the complexities of our field.

From auditors to farmers, horticulture experts to data anaylsts, everyone is encouraged to think outside the box, propose innovative solutions, and take full ownership of their projects.

On that note, we’re in the process of expanding our horticulture team in the coming weeks, we're looking for people who are not only passionate about the environment but also keen to drive change within the sector. Our approach is hands-on, combining on-the-ground knowledge with strategic thinking to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the planet. If that sounds like you, please get in touch.

Looking Forward with Cautious Optimism

As we move forward into our fourth year together, our journey towards integrating ESG principles more deeply into all our work and expanding our horticulture capabilities will continue at pace. Yet, as is typical of the SCI way, we will tread this path with cautious optimism.

I’m keenly aware of the challenges that lie ahead but are also confident in the strength and creativity of our team to overcome them.

I believe the future at SCI is bright, not because of lofty promises or grandiose claims, but because of the steady, purpose-driven work we're doing every day.

My team is at the heart of this work, and it's their dedication, expertise, and vision that truly sets them apart.
